Between The Lines

That's a pretty cool photo, Susan.

It's good that the lineman is so identifiable. And it looks like you framed it at all the right places. #1532303

Thank you, Stephen. This was taken while stopped at a traffic light.

Rita and Debbie - thanks for your comments on the sculputure image. I took it down so you may not have seen my response - put back here. I thought this one was a better image for Dale's challenge. #10732609

Both are very nice, I think they are both very good for this month's challenge. I really like what you did with "Between the Lines". Did you use some filter or setting to get the black and white silhouette? You made something so ordinary look very interesting-nice job! #10733042

Thanks, Elaine. The sky was completely grey and flat so I converted it to black and white and just played with the white and the black. I removed one line that merged with the lineman and created that extra space. Some said I should remove the crane part in the lower right, but that seemed to make the arm of the cherry picker too feeble and interrupted the balance with the poles on the left. I'm not sure. I'll look for the original and post it - you'll be surprised how crummy it is. :) #10733232

WOW I really really like this shot especially in black and white. I agree with Stephen having the lineman so identifiable is a bonus. that was a great vision for thinking outside the box. #10734330

Susan - I could have sworn that I commented on black and white one but maybe you took it off the thread already. Great shot and very dynamic. #10734965

Debbie, are you talking about the baseball sculpture? If so, you did comment (thank you), and I put it back in in the body of this thread. #10734992

Just thought I was going nuts! I will have to go see the black and white monkey I took a while back, turned it black and white and then did a threshold with it. Reminds me of yours. #10735118

Very interesting silhouette, Susan. It sure does fit Dale's challenge.

I really like the silhouette, converting Between the Lines to Black and white made a big difference and really improved the shot! #10735373

Great result on this. For those of you who have been around for a bit you may remember my comments on kodalith - this is exactly what a kodalith shot looks like. No gray just black and white.

Wonderful job reproducing this look (in wet darkroom days this took an enlargement onto kodalith film then a contact print again onto kodalith film then an enlargement to high contrast paper for the final print. I have tried to do this digitally in the past without the kind of success you managed to get here. With your example I may give it another try. Just wonderful!
