Thank you so much, Nikki....yes they do burst open in the night....and sadly only last the day...so early morning I'm out photographing so they last a long time in a portrait long after they're gone...have a wonderful day! #10682688

I'm so fortunate to have two plants of this type in the garden...one has this flower coloration....the other has a magenta/purple/pink cast to it on the outer petals.....Thanks again for viewing and commenting! #10688452

There's something so very poignant about a beautiful flower that lasts such a very short while - you want to hold onto it and visually inhale it's beauty as long as you can...You are so right in that capturing it via your photography allows the pleasure to outlast the short reality. This is gorgeous, Patricia - excellent work (both horticulturally and photographically!) :) :) #10690996

Thank you so much Kitty.....early morning before these beauties wilt in the sun....sometimes I use a screen to diffuse the light coming on to the flower...and place a black backdrop to isolate the plant from the rocky background.....have a great day and thank you for viewing.....=^..^= #10702711

Your cacti images are quite beautiful! #10813411

They do a very nice job of posing for me LOL....they are some of the most magnificent flowers I've ever had the pleasure to photograph...hard to believe something so soft and fragile comes from the spiny cactus plants.... #10813518
