For comparison, here's two very similar images. One a single, in camera image, the other a composite. #1522025

You are achieving great distance in you spark flow Jeff. Was that done using steel wool?

On the composite I think it would have turned out a bit better had the strobe been place coming from the direction of the flares. Or course, you still would have needed one for the foreground snow and flagged it to feather the light on the jumper. #10638192

Jeff, Yup, this works!

I don't know what equipment was used in these photos, but I like this combo better!

I like the brightness of the fireworks in the top one the best and the composition of the second one because of the skier coming off the pipe. I also like the fact that the snow looks white in the second instead of many winter photos where it is blue.

Great work! #10638516

Awesome sparks capture, Jeff! I love that feature best! #10638521

I really love the sparks on this one. I like the first one where the sparks are seen on the foreground and I think the boarder is in a great position. I am also wondering how you got such distance with the sparks. #10639307

Actually both work for me, but the composite has the better lighting by utilizing the different exposures from the different shots used to make up the composite. I also like the white snow and am also curious how you got so much range in the sparks. #10640408

The sparks are very cool on both shots Jeff..I prefer the comp and position/pose of the boarder on the first, but the difference in lighting between the boarder and everything else gives away the fact that the image is a composite....maybe darken the boarder and/or lighten everything else so they more closely match like in the 2nd image? #10640523

Thanks for all of your input.

I've re-worked the first image a bit. I brought the exposure down bit on the boarder and brightened the snow. I also tightened the crop a little.

As far as the question on the distance of the sparks, It's really not to difficult to get them to fly a good distance. When y'all are out here in June, I'll give you a demo of my mad skills. #10641094

Totally beyond my imagination and skills Jeff. The final version is my favourite. ( but it still looks like an HB pencil to me!) #10643196

Nice job with the edits Jeff, the image seems much less like a composite now...sorry I won't be able to witness your mad skillz firsthand this year.. #10643403
