Waiting ~ Lonaconing Silk Mill, Maryland
Uploaded: March 05, 2013
I recently did a photo workshop at the Lonaconing Silk Mill in Lonaconing, Maryland. What a wonderful shooting experience! The Lonaconing Silk Mill is the last intact silk mill in the United States and was in operation from 1907-1957. They initially produced silk thread and during WWII that changed to rayon. The mill shut down operation in 1957 and has fallen into disrepair. The owner of the silk mill is trying to raise money to restore the mill and allows photographers to enter the dilapidated building for a fee.
