Girls partying

Description

Last evening we were at an art exhibition opening night at the Jacoby Art Center in Alton IL. and when we were leaving we saw that a part of the building had been let out for a private party. Walking down the sidewalk I looked through the large plate glass window and this happy bunch of kids ran over and I took this quick snapshot.
Don't judge its photographic worth just laugh with me at the kids' boisterous happiness. I have no idea who they are and they don't know me, but it seems that having a camera dangling from my shoulder was sufficient to set them off.

This brought a smile to my face. So nice to see happy teens having a fun time. I like the way they posed themselves for you! #1519449

This makes me smile :). My husband and I have worked with teenagers for 16 plus years until recently. It has definitly been a needed change to move on for our family, but I miss those days when I could keep up with them. They are so much fun and have so much more depth to them then people give them credit for sometimes. #10612370

This is great, Peter. A fantastic image of some happy kids. A great entry for Dale's challenge. #10612525

Love the spontaneity and just plain "joy" in this image. It makes me miss my job working with juniors and seniors in high school getting them read for college. Teenagers keep us " young" and those older than ourselves make us wiser and more appreciative of what we still have ahead of us. I need the two extremes to define myself "in the middle!" So... thank you, Peter, for this shot. #10612585

I think what is fun here is THAT they posed for you. #10612596

This photo takes me back many years, when it was just so much fun to hang with the girls and see what kind of mischief we could get into. Life seemed so easy then...thanks Peter! #10613736

Thanks to each and every one of you kind folks. This was one of those circumstances where all the credit must go to those kids. We are never going to know what prompted them to rush to the window but Elizabeth tells me from her teaching experiences that these are almost certainly 7th graders and of the 6th, 7th and 8th graders in her art classes the 6th are still somewhat intimidated by authority; the 8th are just way too cool to interact with old people (over 30) but 7th graders have the unself-consciousness shown here.
It was infectious and having taken the one quick shot I just 'high-fived' them with my hands pressed against the glass and I am still laughing at them. #10614038

Pete - that's an interesting comment. My brother teaches 8th grade english and geography in a school that covers 7-9th grades. He says the exact same thing about 8th graders. #10614211

what a fun moment. I love it when kids will be kids.... My husband is working with the youth again at church which means they are at the house a lot I am with Debbie we need each other for sure I just wish they wouldn't go through a 10 years of thinking they know more than us....LOL and don't need to talk with us.

love image! #10619490

What fun!!!

Kids this age are interesting. My nephew is in 8th grade. Sheesh!! Now I remember why I didn't like working with Jr. High kids. He is definitely too cool to be around grown-ups. I am anxiously awaiting the day when he returns to being a human being again. :) #10620531

And thank you Rita, Teresa, Lisa and Jeff.
I think I might contact the Jacoby Art center who had let out the room for the party and ask to be put in touch with the parent(s) who had booked it so that I can send a free print for each member of the group of kids. Can't you just hear their shrieks and giggles! #10621880
