I'm back from my leave of absence...hopefully for a long while, though I have an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon for my neck, arms and hands....so we'll see how that goes.
But for now, I have been trying for the last few months to capture my granddaughter walking. She began at 10 months and is now literally running around so fast that I cannot keep up with her for clear photos very well. The 1st one is of her on December 12th. I took her to the park alone to try and get a good photo to surprise her parents with for Christmas...not a good idea to do with an 11 7 1/2 month old alone when she can run and I can't! But this is the closest to stopping action that I have for this challenge. I did use the high pass filter to try to take some of the blurriness from her face but it didn't work too well.
The 2nd one is from January 14th. My daughter wanted a photo of her in the velvet coat and little outfit I made for her...she was sitting on a stool that you can't see behind her tutu, but as you can see she was just getting up to run away again and the 3rd, she stopped long enough to wave a bye-bye, but still a bit blurry.
The last one was after her mom took off the little coat and hat and was holding her while she stood on the trunk lid of the car. I loved the way the sunlight caught her piggy tails. I had to really lighten the facial area because it was so dark with the sun directly behind her head.

This series is wonderful Susan and shows that you are indeed back. My favorites are "Look at me go!" and "Round and round we go!" The last one has some real potential for improvement using post processing.

I'd suggest a 4x6 crop above the flare and either a multiply blend or highlights changes in the raw editor, to bring out the color and reduce the highlights glare.

I've taken the liberty to take a screen shot and make some quickie changes to illustrate the idea. Of course, with the original file and more detailed changes you can do better. #10539903

What a cutie! So good to see you are back with us. Will you be able to make it to the Meet-up this year in Utah? I do like the edit that Dale suggested; but although it may be stronger it is missing that important element of motion which is what your original intention was, right? I'd edit to have a version that was like Dale's but I would definitely keep your original crop because it shows exactly what is going on. I rarely ever go against Dale....what will the repercussions be....?
Anyhoooo....got to go. It is midnight and we are going out RV shopping early in the a.m.

I like Nana's girl, but the piggy tails is probably my favorite. I don't care too much for the first one "look at me go" because I can't see her pretty eyes and it's a little dark. #10554229

Thank you all for your input...
Dale, I will be doing a tighter crop for the memory books but also keeping the original because I like the sense of motion with the natural sunflares which helped to depict the late afternoon golden hour in early January that we had that day. Searching for which folder it's in on my hard drive but coming up blank so far...thought it was January 14th, but that folder is empty so who knows what I listed it under. #10557033
