Wharfside

Description

Wharf buildings on the tiny island of Flatey in Breiðafjordur bay. As near as I can tell, the painted "Bryggjubúðin" means "wharf shops",
yet I'm not sure exactly what is sold here; perhaps a lot of rope or hose, judging by the bins outside? I wanted to play up the gritty, commercial feel
without a texture layer, so I explored several Nik filters exaggerating detail and contrast.

Think you did quite well in you attempt to play up the gritty. NICE WORK As for the Sign I don't think it's meant for any TOURIST TRADE ;o)

Very nice capture, Chris. The "L" shape of the building works well with the square crop #10516199

Junk, rust, and grit can be beautiful, as least to those of us who photograph it, and it is here, Chris. Did you learn to pronounce any of these words while you were there? #10516362

Thanks, everyone!
Mitch; we got started on pronunciation while there---but it was pretty laughable, especially on longer words. #10517707

My goodness but I like the jumble and tumble not only of objects but also of colors, shapes, and textures here, Chris. I also like the square crop which, I suspect, "contains" all that clutter better than another would. Not over processed at all, imo. #10518089

Thank you both! The island is so small (about 1 x 2 miles) with just a handful of buildings and only about 5 full time residents, that it was a little surprising to find this dense cluster of buildings and materials right at the tiny dock. #10519666
