Pulled this from the archives, and it will be a resubmission, with some improvements.
Though from a distance they may appear similar to those who have not studied the differences, the slightly-less-common (in these parts) Black Vulture is--at least to me--way more imposing a figure than the Turkey Vulture. They are also more likely to kill its prey.
This was shot on a rooftop overlooking the Delaware River in New Hope, Pennsylvania. February, 2008.
