All military aircraft images interest me Mike and this is excellant and taken from a less common perspective. Good stuff! #1500091

Thank you Peter. I love these planes too. I just wish there was sound to go along with these photos, because you can actually feel and hear the power of these planes when you see them in person. On this shot I wanted to capture the glow of the after burners. I loved the heat distortion from the exhaust on the left wing. #10431678

Yup, this is really cool! I hope this year's air show at Hill AFB turns out a little better than last year's did. #10431770

Beth Spencer November 24, 2012

That is an awesome angle of the plane and I love the way you see the glow on the engines. #10431986

Sweet angle (wow I hang out with teenagers too much!) and love the comp! #10431988

can't get bettter than this Mike this is a really cool shot. I love seeing the fire and you are right the roar is awesome to hear and feel. I would love to go to the air show here but it is always in mid july and the temp are alway in the 90's not for me!!! #10432459

Thank you all.

Jeff hope you get to a great show next year. Just hearing and seeing these planes at close range can be very exciting.

Beth and Deb it is hard to come up with something a little different in these shots as I have hundreds of them - I am glad you like this angle as I thought it was special.

Rita you should try it at least for a short visit. There is no substitute for seeing these things in person. The Reno Air Races are in mid September, but we get form high 90's to high 40's depending on the year. One year it was so cold we sat in the hanger by the fireplace and looked out the closed windows.

This is a very nice shot. I love the detail you can see of the eagles on the wings. You can feel how hot those engines are by looking at the left wing, bottom. Very cool, and I love the composition too! #10433046

Mike -- I just knew this had to be yours. Love it! But I know what you mean. I feel the same way about the Balloon Festival -- how many more balloon pictures do I need? I didn't miss it as much this year as I thought I would. Maybe after a year of not being able to go, I will find some new POV's. #10435990

I love this Mike. I especially love the fact that the heat from the engines is distorting the left wing. :) #10436010

Sorry it has been a busy few days. Saw the "Life of PI" movie today - pretty good!

Thank you for the nice comments. I did enter this one as shown the other day.

Debbie I have more Air race pictures than any other kind. A captive audience for photography all day for 1 to 5 days every year. Literally hundreds I have not even looked at closely.

Elaine and Teresa the exhaust and heat distortion is one of the things I liked to make this a bit different than a lot of others I have. It does look to borrow a phrase from Deb awesome. #10437297

Lovin the comp. on this one because it draws my attention right toward the heat coming out the back end...that is pretty awesome! :~) If you ever wanted to get really creative in PS you have so much to work with. I just read and article in a PS magazine about turning images like this into composites that reflect a battle going on. #10438332
