Thank you Robert and Arthur, apparently those are his ankles not his knees and white Flamingos are young ones its when they become full of colour they are ready to mate......and what makes them orange is what they eat.. That distinctive pink color of flamingos comes from the food they eat: algae and shrimp that contain carotenoid pigments (the same stuff that makes carrots orange), and which produce a red pigment when broken down during digestion. #10416048
