I agree with Murry. The piece is well composed. The blues in the sky and the rider compliment each other.

Was the rider also shot in New Mexico?

The lighting direction of the background and the rider look like they match pretty closely. Your selection technique for the rider was good. Precise but not un-natural looking edges. The shadow could more accurately reflect the shape of the cycle and the direction of the amient lighting. You could also use your image editing program to generate some sand being kicked up by the rear tire to enhance the realism of the shot.

A few tweaks and it would be tough to tell this was a composite photo. #124379

Well the rider, I took yesterday here in Elko, I just wanted to put him in a different background, putting a shadow like that would make it too phoney, I tried, I have other pictures and the shadow's from my daughter didn't show
her at all, it was where the sun was shining from that I put the small shadow because the front tire's are up in the air, anyway this is how it turned out. I have some more I am going to do and see how they turn out,
thank's you guy's for your input, am going to try a couple more with different rider's.

Ann, I think this is a very nicely done photo; I really like your choice of background. It sounds like Dave V. has a lot more experience with composite images than I do. I tend to agree with his points about working on the shadow and creating a little digital dust--to make it look completely "natural." #124631

Well yah, but I don't have a way to make the shadow's unless I remake it completely, and I don't know what shadow's I would make on it, except on the ground and it would have to be the image of the bike right? Here is with a little dust on it, is this better or too much? Help! #124681

Ann,

As far as the shadow is concerned, it is really an artistic choice that should agree with the lighting that existed in your background and foreground images. To make a realistic image those lights were, hopefully, at approximately the same angle. To me it looks like they were both lit from almost directly above. Therefore, I would paint a vaugely motorcycle shaped shadow with plenty of blur and about 20-30% opacity almost directly beneath the cycle. Visualize looking directly down on your rider for the shadow's shape.

I think the sand you added looks good. Especially right above the front tire. It look like grains are being spun right out of the treads! #125180

You are absolutely right about the direction of the light. Just goes to show how subjective artistic judgements are. And I did mean what I wrote earlier about liking the color, composition, and your addition of the sand. It is a strong image.

Thank's everybody, I am surprised
really that I got picked out of all the one's that were in there too! There are so many beautiful one's, but I just love to have fun with my pic's, and get comment's bad or good, how can a girl learn? without some input?
