This gentleman is a member of the Royal Order of Ponce de Leon, which promotes understanding of the history of his explorations. The story goes that Ponce de Leon landed here in Charlotte Harbor before landing in St. Augustine or Pensacola, but the natives proved to be unfriendly and he left after a month.
