Description

5-image HDR, f/13, ISO 50, Nikkor 14-24 mm, f/2.8 @ 14mm. (T&P)
Built in 1845-46, Adams Mill was a grist mill producing assorted grades of flour for more than 100 years. Commercial milling ceased in 1951, but the machinery is still intact and was operational until a 2003 flood. The mill is a prime example of post and beam construction common among agricultural structures in Indiana in the 19th Century. Hand-hewn timbers form the framework held together with shaved wooden pegs. The posts, beams, and joists are made from walnut, oak, and poplar. All of the lumber was harvested locally and cut and shaped on site.. Today, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as a museum of early rural Americana. Beautiful HDR work, Rona! I'm always in awe of your excellent HDR work and no exception here...crisp, colorful, excellent detailing thruout. Adams Mill looks as tho it's been maintained beautifully over the years - a leap back in time, for sure - you've captured it wonderfully! #10334447

I get patriotic every time I see Red, White and Blue all in the same photo! :D

What rich history here, Rona and such a huge building.

I don't know why these old buildings always look haunted to me. I love your comp and the inclusion of the little foot bridge here. :)

It's a very special picture of American at it's historical best!!! :) Good to be in your pretty gallery today!
