This ancient monument was the scene of a high powered magical ritual performed by Aleister Crowley the infamous black magician, in the 1930's where he passed his young son 3 times through the hole in the stone. and it was reported that a line of flat water was seen leaving Cornwall Uk and arriving at Montauk island , New York
