An Outstanding wildlife capture! #1482474

Gord MacEachern 8/26/2012 3:18:20 AM

Very unpredictable animals, the last time we where out to Banff a local biker was taken right off the bike and mauled to death. Fantastic beautiful capture Renee!! #10290473

Second Hope you realize how VERY FORTUNATE YOU ARE TO BE IN ONE PIECE.
The general belief is that if a Black Bear continues to approach you once they are aware of your being there. It's because your being targeted as A MEAL.
Dont know how close he was or when he became aware of you but DANGEROUS is a Conservative description of your encounter.

Tammy M. Anderson 8/26/2012 5:26:45 AM

Beautiful bear and capture. Love the eye to eye contact. Have to use common sense when around wildlife but I hate when people are scared to death and especially give bears a bad rap. We see bears all the time down at Shenandoah. Most can't get away fast enough. People need to look up statistics on bear attacks verses other wildlife attacks. #10290680

Michelle Alton 8/26/2012 5:29:38 AM

Well, you survived the encounter so now it's a beautiful memory and photo. I love the way he is contrasted against the large clump of delicate yellow wildflowers. #10290692

Carolyn M. Fletcher 8/26/2012 6:05:31 AM

Well, I hope you had a long lens! #10290778

Ken Smith 8/26/2012 6:06:04 AM

I'm not an expert at bears, but I know grizzlies are worse than black bears...I think. :-) At least you're safe and sound. I don't think bears like to eat cameras, though! #10290780

Linda D. Lester 8/26/2012 6:28:33 AM

I couldn't believe how close this guy kept walking toward us - along the road somewhere in Banff on a wet and chilly day ....
