I guess he has to be a more clever marketer than do his young competitors! The last shoe-shiner that I encountered (In Philadelphia's Reading Terminal Market) was ALSO wearing red!

Photographed in Sosua, Dominican Republic.

This guy walks around town all day carrying his chair and box of polishes. He makes house calls to his regular customers and also does people on the street.

All the other shoe shiners are young boys.
