Funny Fly Description: Grotesques are carved termination stones on the gablets of pinnacles and buttresses. Washington National Cathedral has some 1,000 of them, comprising people, animals, imaginary creatures and other creations. Many are humorous, from a robot focusing its stone lens on the Russian Embassy down the hill, to this housefly clutching a spray-can of Raid bug spray (perhaps to help fend off the adjacent carved chameleon?)
