Description

The residence originated in 1717, when Catherine I of Russia engaged the German architect Johann-Friedrich Braunstein to construct a summer palace for her pleasure. The palace was famed for its lavish exterior. More than 100 kilograms of gold were used to gild the sophisticated stucco façade and numerous statues erected on the roof....Wikipedia

What a magnificent image, Rey. I hope this one goes BP Gold for you! The details here are amazing!!! What a beautiful structure and you framed this perfectly...And that Gold on the roof top! WOW!

I think there are 2.2 lbs in a Kilo? That is a lot of weight! I wonder who has the job of shining it? Likely a team of people.

Great job! :D

Extraordinary structure, and marvelous capture, Rey! So much gold/money...for a summer house. Oh, well.
Catherine's attitude must have been, "Ya got it, spend it!!" And that German architect must have been thrilled with the assignment.
Your pov and composition manage to get so much into the frame. Terrific job! #10271392

"A summer palace for her pleasure"...by the looks of this, it would take Catherine the entire summer to briefly walk thru every room - not that she would, I'm sure! Good grief, what a magnificent edifice - absolutely breathtaking in it's scope (you did a superb job with your pov here, Rey!) - a stunningly spectacular capture - well done! #10291266
