25 de Abril Bridge Description: After touring Portugal for three days, we boarded Oceania's Riviera and sailed under the 25 de Abril Bridge often compared to the Golden Gate Bridge, and actually built by the same American company that built the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge. From this angle it appears that the "Monument to Christ" statue is on the bridge but it is in the community of Almada across the Tagus. This statue was erected in 1959 in thanks to God for having spared Portugal during WWII; it was inspired by the famous statue in Rio de Janeiro. Uploaded on 7/27/2012 5:25:35 PM
