Sunrise from the Tunnel

Description

It’s hard to resist going through the tunnel in Battle Rock, which is only possible when the tide is low. And the walls of the tunnel can make for an interesting “frame” for a sunrise photo. The first version of the photo is the full Monty, while the second version is cropped to better show the detail. I normally resist the urge to crop images so that the Photo of the Day can be printed up to and above 20 x 30 inches, but I made an exception for this photo.

Nikon D700, 20 mm f/2.8D Lens @ f/9, 1/500 second exposure. ISO 200. (11/14/2011, 8:36 AM. Battle Rock, Port Orford, Oregon, USA)

Exif: F Number: 9, ExposureTime: 100/49999 seconds, ISO: 200, FocalLength: 20.00 mm, Model: NIKON D700
