I like the tones in this one. I think the DOF works well. I hate seeing this stuff so early, but oh it is all coming early, what is going to be here when fall comes? #1475242

Come to my house, Rita. I've got plenty of these that I managed to miss from last winter :o)

Well it is certainly dry and hot enough this summer to find such a thing. I think looking out my window right now I can see dead leaves on some of the trees. I really like the DOF on this...it's actually gives a sense of movement the way the blur is. When we have dry summers fall is always very quick and not colorful. :( #10233236

Cool shot Rita! It IS hard to believe you took this in the summer! Reminds me of Fall too! #10233262

This image has a delicate and fragile feel to it. Which seems enhanced by a slight HDR appearance. The dof and tight crop works great. The colors and tones are beautiful. #10233314

Hi Rita. I think most of us are sharing similar thoughts here. It is way, way too early for this with temperatures in the high nineties and low hundreds day after day. A thought-provoking image girl! #10233377

Rita I love monochromatic shots where the color tones are all very similar, but things still stand out and are easily seen. This is a good example. Nice focus and DOF. These shots normally print well on art paper such as Epson velvet fine art and make great framed accent photos. #10233438

Very thought provoking, Rita and certainly a commentate on how dry it has been this summer. It does make one wonder what kind of fall we will have, or if we even have much of one this year.

I may be commenting a lot because this is about all I can do -- sit in bed with my foot up and critique on the iPad. Went to the foot specialist today and still do t know anything except to find out they need a CT to determine if I need surgery or just a cast. call me . I'll be home. #10233780

I agree with Beth, like the tones and DOF #10233908

The other Phellos did such a good job describing the attributes of this wonderful image that I will just say "I like it"... #10234598

I'd like to echo Mike's thoughts completely...for me this one brought on the tears...We hadn't been out of our home for less than 10 days & ..were still making trips to the rental and back every few days, Well, our very grouchy and unfriendly neighbor had come into our yard (the house is STILL in our name today, BTW) and had completely cut down the young oak tree that our son William had planted the day we moved into our first little home on December 1, 1999. It had grown to about 14 feet tall and was about 7-8 inches in diameter....and there it was lying on our front lawn...talk about heartbreak...thought we'd still be able to drive by that little home for many years to come and watch that oak tree thrive and grow kind of like a living memorial...but for some reason, grumpy neighbor trespassed and cut it down. I wanted my husband to go and face him but he said the guy would probably start a fight...so I just gathered up all the oak balls and one tiny acorn and some of small branches with leaves that had the same colors and tones as your photo, Rita, and put them in a Ziploc bag to use in Will's memory books when I finally unpack the all the photographs from over the years at the rental. So yes...this one really made me think - nothing is certain in life...things come and go...The key is to love and appreciate the heck out of the people and things that really matter....I'm choosing to remember his excitement when he was just a little kid, planting that huge acorn in our very first front yard and watching it grow...carving his name in it...I have photos of that which will go well with what I salvaged from our "kind neighbor" meant as spite...maybe for all Will's years of practicing his music...who knows?
But, yes, I do like the texture and how the colors though similar stand out from each other. Nicely done, Rita. #10234809
