I think your friend, Becky adds to this one. How lucky you still have this one, we had a piano roll factory in Sydney that closed down as the owner was to old to keep running it. There was all the old machinery to make the rolls, a theatre etc, I wrote to lots of people about keeping it going with no luck!! Great image=^..^= #10210144

I like Becky in the shot too ... that's quite a showroom! When I was growing up, my grandfather managed a piano factory in the Bronx somewhere around 138th Street and the Grand Concourse ... Krakauer Pianos. I don't think there are many left in the USA. #10210223

Looking at your piano shot, I think what was missing from mine was a person sitting on the seat. I think people always make a shot more interesting and I think you made a good decision to leave this lady in. Terrific capture here Michelle. #10211588

The idea of full-size, "real," pianos is almost a dream these days. So this is particularly apt. So many opt for keyboards instead now. I tried to sell my piano very reasonably. No takers. Finally got somebody to just take it away for free, and that person was no easy chore to find. #10212413

During a meetup of our photography club in Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Saturday, Tim Oliver, the co-owner of Cunningham Piano Co. invited us into his showroom to photograph. He, himself an accomplished pianist, also took time to answer all of our questions and to provide a full history of the company that was founded in 1891 by Irish immigrant, Patrick Cunningham.
The factory (which now does only high-end grand piano restorations) and showroom still stand in their original locations in Germantown.
Becky, one of my photo friends, walked into my shot inadvertently, and I almost "disappeared" her. Then I decided to leave her blurred "apparition" in and to treat the photo as a sort of musical dream. The fact that Becky is also a fine musician adds some intrigue, doesn't it?
