Awesome! Great clarity, composition. I love the reflection on the sands combined with the start trail and the hint of color in the sky. Beautiful capture. #1470783

Thank you, Howard. I was fortunate to find this shallow pool on the edge of the lake, and agree that the reflection adds something extra to this image. I also continue to be amazed at the results from this lens.

Thank you, Michael, and I think you may be right. I do love being out under the night sky, and am looking forward to the next auroura event.

Thank you, Arthur, my friend. Sometimes we get rewarded for that extra effort. This one cost me a night's sleep for 1 image, but I think it was worth it. #10196556

Your efforts definately paid off. Great capture. The last time I tried to photograph star trails I knocked my camera and tripod over in the dark cost me a day of shooting in the Valley of Fire in Nevada and a repair bill of $300 for the camera and $85 for the lense. #10196560

Thank you, Art. I'm glad I had a better experience than you; that hurts just to think about it. I tried again last night at my house with less satisfactory results; the front of the lens kept getting covered with dew and fogging up. #10196570

Art, you are correct; we are about 10 miles from Lake Superior, but we are also about 600 feet higher in elevation, so I don't know how much the lake would affect our humidity. We do have moderate humidity levels across the whole Upper Peninsula, but also have a lot of cool nights that get down to the dew point and as a result we often get dew.

David, thank you very much. #10197357

Outstanding! #10201107

Thank you, Carla. I enjoyed this one so much (captured early on 6/23) that I was up all night the following night shooting star trails at my house and again last night at another place on Lake Superior. I'm afraid I am neglecting my club duties for the sake of photography, and I am hoping you will all understand and forgive me. #10201266
