Description

I found this astonishing deep red-leaved tree at Vineland Nurseries. It is Albizia. I saw a mature tree in St. Louis – it has powder puff flowers in late summer and varieties are tropical or subtropical, so won’t be seen in Toronto. Here’s a description from a garden nursery website that speaks to its tropical nature:

“Are you looking for a fabulous shade tree, rich in a unique cultural history and adored by elephants and butterflies alike? Then look no further than the spectacular flat-crown albizia to add a year-round talking point to your garden!”

That would definitely be a talking point here in Ontario – to attract elephants and butterflies to our garden.

Marilyn, you've managed to capture all the various colors in a truly harmonious way, with a 3-D effect and sense of depth that is wonderful. Love the whimsical title you pulled from the website description. #10196479
