Robins in the Nursery

Uploaded: June 04, 2012

Description

This is sort of a nursery in a nursery. Our nursery grows hundreds of varieties of heirloom vegetable and herb plants. Though we lost out on some pots to use for a while, we let this family of robins have this one area under a bench to itself. When taken one of the babies had left the nest. Three are left. Typically one leaves each day. The nest is getting crowded. This was taken with a Canon 100-400mm lens at 400mm to keep the family at a safe distance.

Exif: F Number: 10, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/200 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 320, White balance: Manual white balance, FocalLength: 400.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 40D

Beautifully presented, Ted. Isn't amazing that they can go from egg to fledgling in less than two weeks? #10167639

Wonderful capture, Ted. I love the look and stance of the adult - as if trying to assess the situation and decide which mouth to feed. Superb moment. #10168348

Fabulous action capture of this robin family, TED! Wonderful timing and good of you to give them space. The expression on the adult is amazing - those chicks are certainly insistent! #10168658
