Cutty Sark Description: Greenwich London. The Cutty Sark is one of the fastest clippers, built in 1869, at the end of the age of sail, right before the introduction of steam propulsion. The opening of the Suez Canal shortened the route to China, and obviated the need for her use in the tea trade. She then turned to the import of wool from Australia. As a museum, she is now displayed on a controversial glass structure in which she hangs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cutty_Sark Uploaded on 5/26/2012 9:04:53 PM
