Description

While attending my oldest granddaughter's high school graduation in Louisiana, I came across this very small wildflower growing in the grass. If anyone knows, I would love to know the name of the flower.

This is just so pretty...so delicate! As always your attention to detail is most impressive, Donald! The purple star burst "fringe" surrounding the glowing yellow stamens...stunning! (Wish I knew what it was - can't find it in my Audubon wildflower guide - will try a few other guides and if I find it, will let you know - it's become a challenge now! :)) #10152209

Well, I love a challenge but this one has me completely stumped. I've checked every wildflower reference book and gone online in my spare time and nothing remotely resembles it! Well, you know I'm not ready to give up yet and if I come across this mystery flower's true ID - I'll pass it on! Sure is a beauty! #10163343
