Stormy Skies

Description

This Image Is Dedicated To
All Of You Who Have Been
In Harms Way This Season With
Tornadoes, Hurricanes, Ice Storms, Earth Quakes,
Or Any Dangerous Conditions Surrounding You.

MAY YOU ALL BE SAFE.

(Did Any Bad Storms Get Close To You??)

On July 14th, 2011 a Tornado Hit Calgary, Where I Live.
They Called It Small But I Can Tell You It Was Scary.
I Felt Our Walls Moving And Could Feel
The Suction From The Wind Raising The Roof.
LIKE OUR HOME WAS ABOUT TO TAKE OFF!
The Sounds of The Wind Were Something I Can't Even Describe.
Nature Became So Silent Before It Hit.
I WOULDN'T WISH A REAL TORNADO ON ANYONE.

Please, if you live in dangers way,
KNOW YOUR SAFETY RULES and BE READY!

The clouds in your photo seem fluffy and non-threatening, Pom, but what you experienced in Calgary last summer sounds absolutely horrific.
I'm very happy you survived --- and no doubt many others in the bp community feel the same way!
Thanks once again for thinking of others, and dedicating images like this to them. #1457242

When you see those clouds pile up you need to start looking for a weather forecast. Glad you made it through ok.
We got lucky this time and got nothing. #10096790

A wonderful capture Laura!
Like you, we have been lucky over the last few years, but there have been many weather events north and south of us. Sydney, which is 90 miles to the south is cleaning up after flash floods earlier this week!

The weather can be as cruel as it can be gentle, can't it?
I know that we share a fascination for clouds, SSSister. And this in one FANTASTIC cloud indeed. I would have caught it too. Beauuutiful colors in this very attractive image. #10101166

This looks so bright but obviously deceiving as the moisture starts gathering for a powerful storm. Wonderful thoughts Laura for all those affected by calamities and I pray too for everyones safety. Be safe dear friend. #10106720

1 Year ago today, April 27, many tornado's struck Alabama, here in Arab, AL we kept goint to the church for safety in their basement, we would come home and then the alarm would go off again. Tuscaloosa, AL had many to die. Here there was the Hallmark Family, a mother & dad, their son and daughter in law and one of the 4 year old twins were killed...very sad...

We tend to get nervous when they start talking possible tornado's..my daughter's home had $7,000 trees down, water damage, etc..she is having a tornado shelter built, I'm glad, we can go "get in" with them!

Thank you for ths beautiful image and your words darling!

Thank you so much for your comments and stories here Marey, Carolyn, Jack, Brother John, Neighbor Stan, TamTam, Wm, Emile, SSSKirsten, Heather, Rey, Chris, Shelly and Jo Ann.

It's good to know what each of us might have gone through and also very healthy to think of others.

Our planet can sure be a frightening violent place when it feels like it. Makes me wonder if we aren't approaching housing and city building wrongly. Maybe they had the right idea back in the Viking days? And even the early settlers and so many others. Homes built into hills and mounds with grass on top?! It was totally vernacular and it didn't cost them much, so they didn't hurt so badly when they might have "lost it all" in the storm...!!!? Lives seem to get lost as well by getting hit with debris or the crumbling buildings.

On a happy note, this image has such an amazing cloud in it. I'd like to start a club soon and call it "The Cloud Club".

Any and all are welcome to join. I'd also like it to include other strange formations we see along the way so I need to think of a clever title then I'll create the club. :)

HEY! How about "Strange Formations" ??? Lol..

Anyway thank you all so much! I hope you all stay safe, too, and that we all know each other for years to come!

-Laura :) xo
