Thank you, Art. My wife and I are having a debate, and I would like your opinion. This one is more colorful than the other one I posted, but the other one has a meteor in it. Which one do you prefer? #10092240

Arthur Bohlmann April 15, 2012

They are both excellent images but I prefer this version. Who won ? You or your wife? #10092255

Paul R. Nelson April 15, 2012

She prefers the other one; I am still undecided as I see strong points on both of them. #10092266

G'day PAUL!

This is just stupendous. So eerie, so otherwordly, almost surreal.

PS:
While the meteor is an interesting, though faint, element on the other image, this one wins hands down for colour. Transferring the meteor would be the stuff nightmares are made of but you could experiment in making one. ;-) #10092527

Hello Dennis,

Thank you for the very kind and encouraging feed back, and I'm glad you enjoyed the show.

Thank you also for sharing your opinion on the merits of the two images. I tend to agree with you about the better color on this one, but am intrigued with the meteor. For one thing, when I was shooting out there, I thought how neat it would be to have a meteor show up. Then when I processed the other image, I was surprised at what I saw. I appreciate your suggestion, but I think I would have better luck with re-processing the other image. #10092571

Thank you, Kim, I hope you are able to get the chance. When the Aurora is active, it is an amazing sight to see. Make sure you take some time, though, to just watch and wonder. I sometimes get so involved in trying to photograph something that I miss out on the experience of being there. My most memorable Aurora displays are those when I had no camera, an could "only" watch. #10095238

Thank you, Donna! They are pretty neat to watch, with lights sometimes stationary, sometimes flashing across the sky with varying intensity. #10151566
