Hi Liza. .. I was studying this picture some more and was wondering ... what lens did you use for this???

I'm wanting to take our family pictures. .. I want our windmill to be in the background and basically be the "backdrop". .. and then have us in the foreground in focus of course but have THE focus on us so you actually see us and we don't look like ants amongst the windmill. .. which means I will have the windmill in the "frame" allowing for cropping to an 8 x 10 aspect ratio(hopefully) and then have us in the picture at the point you can see all of us. .. but after all this rambling was wondering if you used a special lens. .. #323406

Hi Michelle,

Unfortunately, I only have the non-removable lens that came with the camera, so I have to try hard to be creative with it. I have a Sony F717.

I set the camera on Macro and focused on the wine glass. I told my subject to sit as far back as he could so that he would be blurry. I also did some where the wine bottle was in focus. I was trying to go for an ad look where he was in it, but wasn't the main focus.

There is a way to do this also if you adjust your aperture, but I'm going to be honest here, I am by no means a technical photographer. My camera is almost always set on auto. I'm sure someone can better direct you in the use of aperature to achieve the look. When I talk with Debby I'll ask her for you. #1931321

Okay Thanks Liza. . .this is a great photo regardless of how "technical" you get ... you don't need fancy stuff. .. I just thought it looked cool and figured you had a certain lens. .. Thanks for responding! #1931347

Thank you so much Michelle, I was pretty tickled that my idea worked and I got the look I was going for, every now and then things just come together. #1931360
