Description

I took this at the Henry Doorly Zoo in the Desert Dome recently. Though it may look large, this is actually quite a small bird - don't know the name. I regret the shadow across the shoulder, but I loved the details of the wing so much I decided to keep the shot. I did apply a texture to this version.

A beautiful landing shot with a unique view of a excellently captured and wonderfully detailed fanned-out wing spread, Nikki...you can feel the power of those wings in the downward thrust of landing for certain. I'd like to say he/she is in the raptor family but am not sure because of the shape of the beak. Most raptors have a decided "turndown" of the beak...but I'll give a few of my birding books a try and possibly come up with an ID for you...I hope! Excellent work and timing here! #10023393
