I am so excited that this image made it as a finalist. This is a kitty that was thrown from a moving vehicle as a kitten. As she was growing to adulthood she became anemic to the point of almost dying. Her own body could not make enough red cells. After several transfusions spaced over months she is finally fat, healthy and grown up. While getting her blood checked for her red cells (doing fantastic!) it was discovered that she is now diabetic. It is easily being managed though. Gretchen is barely two years old and so sweet and loving, even after all she has gone through. And her owner is amazing for adopting and caring for this wonderful kitty.
