STONE, RIVER and CANAL

Uploaded: January 15, 2012 03:30:52

Description

----
There are a number of major stone quarries in Eastern Pennsylvania. The gorgeous stone that was used to construct the original buildings on the Princeton University Campus (and our house) was quarried from Langhorne Pennsylvania, just down the road from this spot.
----
To shoot this photo, I parked across the road (PA Route 32, "The River Road," in front of the magnificent Cuttalossa Falls in Solebury. I'm standing along the guard rail, just above the banks of the Delaware Canal (about 15 miles north of here--the tow path continues). The red store, and the pallettes of stone sit between the Delaware River (far left) and the Canal. The red bridge in the background leads to the Quarry Store.
----
I found this view to be remarkable.

Canals are something we don't have here. Makes me think how ridiculous it is that we have to fence our pools and spa pools and yet we have all these open waterways which don't have to be fenced. Anyway, back to your image, I really like how your eyes are led up to the red barn towards the end. Superb capture, as always, Michelle. #9921625

Great capture and composition Michelle, love the way it draws your eyes to the red store. Do you know how long this canal is as I have crossed over it several times with my son only a few miles down the road from where he lives in New Jersey.. #9924611
