Introducing ' PJ' ('Pie' Junior

Description

This Owl came to our backyard Jan 1, 2012, and has been here for 7 days in a row. We believe it may be one of Pie's babies from '08 or '09, because it looks so much like Pie & Sweety. He will take mice from us if put on a feeder, hope he has found his home.

Shelly, I was fixing to E-Mail you and tell you about this. He has been here every day since he showed up on Jan 1.
He is now staying and sleeping in the backyard, he waits at our backdoor in the morning for his breakfast mouse. Sleeps up in the trees in the backyard, gets two mice late in the afternoon, and when dark, goes hunting, and returns the next day! I am so happy, and he could be pie's baby from 08 or 09, everyone is saying this is a miracle, and yes I believe so too!
Thankyou so much for your comments. #9910528

I am excited! How does a person get an owl to come to the house? Do you have an owl call? You use frozen mice? I would love to try this....Not sure if we have any around but there are farms.....He looks just like Pie? What type of owl is this?? Please keep me posted! :) #9912917

Linda A. Braddock January 10, 2012

Shelly, Yes I have an Owl Call, several actually. I have been calling for ll months, (almost every day since Pie died on January 20, 2011) We feed the owls live mice we buy at the pet shop, but we are starting to raise our on mice, because it can get expensive. Pie and PJ are Barred Owls. Hope you do try this, it is great! Thanks, Linda #9913472

I love him....Just not sure I could do the live mice. lol My daughter had a pet rat that I loved so much. I would so love to get an owl to come here, but I have small doggies too. Thanks for the help! Please keep me posted!! #9916296

Linda A. Braddock January 12, 2012

Shelly, I did not think I could feed a live mouse either, but if I can, because I do not like to see things die, I think you probably could, because of the love you would have for the owl. I do not let myself get attached to the mice. #9916664

I don't think anyone could get a better New year present, than an owl taking up residence on your property Linda! I hope this beautiful bird will have a long and happy life with you! #9923793

Linda A. Braddock January 16, 2012

John, Thankyou for such a sweet comment, I think it was the best New Year present I could have gotten, I have waited right at about a year for this, and he seems to like it here, if miracles do happen, I think this could be one. Thanks again, so much!! #9923894
