I Just Want A Dog

Uploaded: December 31, 2011 | Entered: December 31, 2015 21:27:37

Description

When I was growing up we could never have a dog because of my mother's allergies. When I married and had children we just seemed to be too busy to include a dog in our lives. Now as an empty nester I still yearn to have a furry companion but because we travel in the winter it would not be fair to have one. I enjoy my three grandpuppies that my children have but it's just not the same. I have decided to volunteer at the animal shelter in our city to get my doggie fix. (This is Marley, a very cute Yorkie.)

Awww....great capture Heather! There is a local lady here who takes wonderful candid professional pics of shelter dogs to show them in a better light than behind bars. Maybe you could do something similar! I'm sure you get a good doggie fix there.

All the best to you and your family in 2012! #9896260

What a great picture of Marley, he is a cutie.
When my big black lab came to his life's end we decided not to get another dog, and it is such a hard decision to keep. It just makes it a little easier for us when we decide to go somewhere. #9901128

Awesome Puppy Yorkie. All my animals have been rescue animals. Lost my dog of 14 years in Oct. but with 17 cats afraid to replace her. #9904051

She is so beautiful...I would love to have her.
We had to give up our Oliver, cause we travel so much and like you said, it wasn't fair to him, so we gave him to a very good home and do have visitation rights, but it hurts so bad after I've visited, I don't go very often. I miss Oliver so much...I've always had dogs since I was little. this is the first time I don't have one. #9904358

She looks so lonely, and is begging for a real owner, Heather. We're empty nesters too, and don't want a pet for the same reason. I guess I can now say I have a grandpuppy too!! #9904822

My former neighbors had Yorkies, and they were as sweet as this one looks. Beautiful portrait, Heather.
Spending time at the animal shelter sounds like a good solution for you, although I would want to bring home SO many of the adoptees-in-waiting! #9906846
