The Desert Sun
Description: Almost sunset at Makhtesh Ramon in Israel. While it looks like a crater, a makhtesh is a geological landform unique to the Negev desert of Israel. It has steep walls of resistant rock surrounding a deep enclosed valley drained by a single wadi. The best known and largest in size is Makhtesh Ramon.
f/13, 1/250, 1/400, ISO 400, 28mm. Makhtesh Ramon, Negev, Israel, December 19, 2011.
