Shooting Wide Open = Priceless

Description

Walking out of work last night I saw a co-worker's Harley in the dark looking exceptionally enticing (we do get to ride in December in AZ, lol). I had my 50mm f1.2 mounted on my 5D Mark II hanging on my shoulder, so I decided to test the limits of fast lenses and high-ISO capability. This was shot hand-held and no flash (I don't even own one). Amazing... this camera sees in the dark, we could never do this with film in the old days. I did typical Curves and Sharpening plus the Dark/Light filter in Nik Color Efex 3.

50mm, 1/25 sec, f/1.2, ISO 2500. Noise reduction done in Camera Raw which is finally an excellent tool in Photoshop CS5.

Thank you both! Yeah, I was tempted to crank up luminance but decided to keep it low key being it was a night shot. I normally shoot landscapes so this one was a bit out of my comfort zone, lol. #9871659

Thanks Dayna! I wasn't sure if this would even go gray, let alone gold. But I'm happy with Finalist and happy you like it! ;-) #9942958

You can feel it in the air, the anticipation of waiting for the awards to arrive. The talent that is on display for all to see and share is amazing. Congratulations to all the January, 2012 winners. Merna #9970813
