Frosty Valley

Description

After photographing moonset yesterday morning at Cape Blanco, my fingers had thawed enough to get a shot of some air hoar frost in the Elk River valley. The morning mist was freezing and the ice crystals were falling to the earth. This photo was taken 3 minutes after the published time for sunrise, which obviously does not take the coastal mountains into consideration. In fact, I had to wait another 20 minutes before the top edge of the sun peaked out above the ridge.
