Cultural Details ~ Chicago Cultural Center
Uploaded: November 30, 2011
I’m always attracted to details, and the Cultural Center is no disappointment. The south entrance architecture is Roman-inspired with Roman arches and much ornamentation. The white marble is Italian Carrara, from the same source as the marble used by Michelangelo for his sculpture. The dark green marble is Irish Connemara. The Cosmati work throughout the interior is a technique in which marble is inlaid with a variety of materials, including lustrous Favrile glass, colored stone, mother-of-pearl, gold leaf, and mosaic.
Thanks for looking!

Beautiful capture and details, Carol. I've been there many times and can always find a new angle to photograph in this wonderful building. #9839421Carol Flisak November 30, 2011
Thanks, Christopher and Leslie, for your comments. I've not taken many done much architecture photography, but I had a great time at the meet-up... and I am inspired by both of your galleries. #9839503Rony Sagy November 30, 2011
