Arnica Fire Yellowstone NP 2009 It actually was caused by a lightning strike but the Park Service decided to let it take its course. This is sunset at Yellowstone Lake.

Thank you so much Nadia and Neal....it was pretty amazing to see. It did create some dramatic skies....but I really didn't want to leave the Park....fortunately there was no evacuation while we were there. #9828624

Terrific capture of this raging wildfire Patricia! It really shows the size and fury of the fire. It must have been just a little scary to witness such a spectacle! #9831431

It was quite the sight to see. When we left the park on our drive out we could actually see the fire up on the ridge from the road we were on.....it is a little scary.....but they really had a lot of information for all the tourists...posted in the hotels and visitors' centers....plus lots of National Park Service employees around....I don't recall if they evacauated on this one or not...they did tell us to be prepared where we were staying....so we packed the night before just in case the knock came at the door.....
