The Making of 'Stormbird':

The ninth in a series of nineteen waterscape photographs chosen by the developers of Coast Apartments in my home town of Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. The large black and white prints grace the walls of the foyers, gymnasium and lift on permanent display in the luxury complex.

The shot was made at the south end of Shelley Beach in Port Macquarie, Mid-north Coast, NSW, Australia on a wild and woolly day.

Enjoy!
The series gives the viewer a journey from the Hastings River, that runs through the town and down the coast to The Gap at Diamond Head Beach in the Crowdy Bay National Park #1420259

G'day my Aussie Friend!
I really like the light shimmering on the wet rock. It leads my eye directly to the flapping Cormorant. The clouds cooperated by providing that space of lightening behind the bird. All working perfectly to showcase him or her.
Very, very nice.

How'd you get him to pose like that?! Gorgeous, as usual! #9787717

Dennis Gay November 07, 2011

How *Wendy*?

All my subjects are trined. LOL

Seriously all Cormorants and Darters pose like this so they can dry out. This poot li'l bloke was going to be hanging out to dry like that for quite a while as most of the afternoon was just a miserable drizzle.

Thanks heaps for your "Gorgeous" wrap.
