Heaven for Books

Description

The magnificent Library of Congress, Jefferson Building, seen from the mezzanine level of the main entry atrium.
Many adjustments made & filters used on this 3-exposure HDR, to create a slightly 'glowing', slightly dreamy appearance (I hope!)

I all too briefly saw small portions of the exquisite Thomas Jefferson Building of the National Library during the 60's with my mother as I was preparing to settle in at college north of Boston. We had a stop over in the District before proceeding north.

Isn't this the Minerva mosaic, and the Gutenberg Bible exhibit, as well as the arch commemorating the construction of the Jefferson Building on the east side of the Great Hall?

You have created an exquisite image of this, Chris. It looks like another gold medal winner to me. #9771421

Thank you all very much!
It is such a grand, beautiful building, I could have photographed all day there.
Susan, yes, it is a view across to the Minerva mosaic; however, the Gutenberg bible is on the lower level from this position. The commemorative archway is just out of frame at the bottom center. #9771873
