Up in Dust.....Salt

Uploaded: October 27, 2011

Description

Owens Dry Lake Bed near Lone Pine CA Unlike most dry lakes in the Basin and Range Province that have been dry for thousands of years, Owens held significant water until 1924, until much of the Owens River was diverted into the Los Angeles Aqueduct, causing it to desiccate. Today, some of the flow of the river has been restored, and the lake now contains some water. These Alkali Dust Storms are not uncommon.....

Thank you Peaches.....I love weather photos....all a matter of right place right time....enjoy watching the storm chasers on pbs.....amazing....but I kind kind of scarey. This one was not that way at all...I didn't see a tornado developing just a wild and crazy storm...have a great day! #9818622
