Wow look at that thing! Very cool . . . I like how you have it going off into the distance.

I see some banding in the sky. I don't know if that's from BP or something else. Kinda wish the sky was a little more interesting . . . #1421037

Joan, I really like the colors and your POV. This could go either in Landscapes or EoD. Very versatile! I agree that you might be able to put a bit more drama in the sky if you have the software to do it. Actually, there would be a lot of different ways to do that, a gradient in PS, a gradual neutral density filter if you have Color Efex, or putting as much structure as the sky would allow before getting too much grain in Viveza. I also like how the foreground is grounded with the colorful trees.

This is an old shot from a few years ago. I have always liked it, but have to agree with you about the sky. I did a bit of work already in viveza, but will definitely try the density filter as well. LOL... Sky's always seem to be blah, when I am out and about with my camera... one would think I should be an expert at replacing them by now, however, I don't really think I have the eye to determine, the right light etc for picking a replacement.

I did enter this on a couple of days back, but think it got overlooked... however, always next month. #9789624

Joan - this one would be about as easy as it gets to replace. Very definite clean lines. Go for it! If you're not sure how to go about it since it's been a while let me know and I'll try to do a step by step of how I would do it. And if some other folks would do the same, I am sure that between a few of us, or a combination of what we tell you would work. #9789663

congrat's on the EP this is a very cool shot. I am with debbie I think sky replacement or putting a little more drama in the sky would really give this a little more punch. great image joan. #9790327

Yeah, very cool. The only suggestion I would have is a horizontal flip so that you are reading the image left to right instead of right to left.

Congrats on the EP! #9791027

I love the lines in this shot - from horizontal at the horizon to diagonal at the road... makes it very interesting! The sky doesn't bother me, as I looked at the lines first and the overall feel of the image is sort of overcast, but I am sure a new sky would look great too! I have never attempted to replace a sky, although Dale says it is easy! #9791101

Okay here it is with the sky replaced and flipped

I really like the flip, but not 100% sure about the sky I picked, but certainly is better than the original #9791614

Teresa H. Hunt November 08, 2011

I like it flipped, however I'm not sure on the sky replacement. #9791754

I don't know whats with the sky in my original... I went back again to the raw, and it just has this weird funk going on with it ?? Anyone know a good site that has sky backgrounds? I used to have one bookmarked but that was on my other computer, and I had a heck of a time finding anything #9791773

Beth Spencer November 08, 2011

I really like your flipped one. It really changes the whole thing. I am not sure about the sky, it just doesn't look quite right. #9792170

Dale Hardin November 08, 2011

I'm a bit late so not sure what this is Joan. I like it of course, and the flip works very well. The sky choice is iffy. What I do on skies, is to shoot as many as I can and save them for future use. Will send you a bunch if you need them. #9792668

A very fascinating shot Joan. The angel of the shot to the aqueduct and the repetition work so well together to captivate the viewer. I like the flip and while I think the sky replacement is a good idea this one does mot work well.

I agree with Dale. I try to shoot different sky and BG shots all the time and keep them in a separate file so that I can find them easily. I would advise you to do your own so that the work is entirely yours if a question of award or sale ever came up. #9797048
