Great Horned Owl

Uploaded: October 22, 2011

Description

It's been a while since I've done any serious wildlife photography, so I was really happy to come across a Great Horned Owl during my morning walk today. If the crows hadn't told me it was something in the tree bothering them, I would probably just have walked by without noticing. He was really blending in in the environment, even though the sun was rising and bringing out the best in the colors.

Wheat Ridge, Colorado, USA.

Oh, Eivor - I would give my eye teeth to see one of these in "person" - I've seen plenty in zoos but never one in it's natural habitat...and what a capture! Congratulations on a terrific Finalist!! #10005332
