Monarch in HDR

Uploaded: October 21, 2011

Description

Monarchs navigate their migration by a a circadian clock and a sun compass that interact with each other in the brain. The antennas seen clearly here also have a a very important clock that closely communicates with the brain clocks. If the antenna is covered with black paint they can not navigate but can with clear paint. Antenna also senses smell, wind direction and sound vibration. Amazing organs these two antennas are. They are truly amazing critters! Superb information, Emile and a spectacular, colorful and detailed capture of one imbibing and fueling up for the next leg of it's journey. They're pretty much gone from my area, too...hope we have the opportunity of seeing more during their migratory march back north in the spring! #9754729

Excellent work, Emile!! I really love the rich color and also your superb choice of framing. The black jaggedness of the frame really compliments the natural beauty of your butterfly!

Great job!! Happy Fall to you.
