Hi Monica

I love this photo. So sharp! beautiful colour. Have been so busy since June. I am missing so much looking at pictures of you guys. Hope to start very soon to look at your and others lovely photos again.

Following your advice and many others I bought the same lens you use to take this photo. Have not been able to take pictures as sharp as you do, but have not used a tripod. Did you use a tripod to take this one and do you use a tripod when you go above 150mm.

Thanks

Hi Fernanda, I’m glad to hear from you again!
Thank you very much for your nice words!
I didn’t use a tripod for this shot. I generally follow a known rule of thumb: to avoid blurred photos you must keep the shutter speed at less at 1/(focal length*cropping factor). With IS lenses you can use slower shutter speeds (2 or 3 exposure times). I took the photo with a shutter speed of 1/80 sec so I was sure that a tripod was not needed. Remember that besides shutter speed, to get sharp photos it is important to have accurate focus, and a small aperture to get enough depth of field.
Hope this is useful for you!
