3 Months ago I was lucky enough to witness a snapping turtle laying eggs

Yesterday I was Very lucky to see them hatch!

isn't it amazing how tiny they are.
Had a friend bring me one once inside an empty Snapple bottle just about the size of a Quarter.

I've had that experience too...two gigantic (almost of Galapagos dimensions) females waddled up my neighbors' driveway and dug themselves into the rose garden adjacent to their pool. Awesome, indeed. But to see the babies emerging is even more poignant an experience. I missed it....but 10 babies were found swimming in the pool. They were transported to the canal, whence their Moms almost certainly reside. #9662046
