Moody Rodanthe
Uploaded: August 16, 2011
As we're leaving for a trip to the Outer Banks one month from today, I started looking through past pictures from our last trip years ago. We always go in September, when the weather can either be great or stormy. But stormy can be cool too. And yes, this is the house from the movie, before it became famous!

Very cool and 'moody' image, Julie! It looks so vulnerable standing there alone. Terrific capture! #1401396Gord MacEachern August 16, 2011

A terrific image Julie. Stormy skies by the ocean can be fun to photograph, but I hope you get good weather! #9607275Terry Cervi August 16, 2011

Beautifully done. The composition, colors, and clarity are excellent. The path in the sand really draws the eye into the photo, giving great feeling of depth. #9607818Leslie McLain August 16, 2011

Super pov and mood, Julie!! Love that house!! Very awesome!! Have fun planning you trip!! #9613547Val Feldman August 19, 2011
LOL @ Dave because I thought the same thing! (Googling it took care of that!). Oh, very moody, Ms. J. Great leading lines, beautiful colors and an excellent comp. The lead-ins are really wonderful - not only the sand pathway but the bending of the beach plants all turned towards the house and directing the eye right into it...a real sense of "expectancy" is felt (if you can understand that!:) Very, very cool capture, Ms. J! #9614203Heather Loewenhardt September 05, 2011
What a wonderful composition where you lead the eye right through the frame to the house and beyond. The colours, the pathway and the sky all contribute to a feeling of loneliness and seclusion. Very well composed and shot. #9654216David M. Montero September 06, 2011
I also saw this on a pgm called Aerial America by the Smithsonian. Seems the beach is eroding and the waves are now underneath the foundation. The pgm said someone purchased the house and is in the process of restoring it. Very cool house but I'm afraid it's doomed. #9656061Julie Burnett September 11, 2011
Thank you all, and Dave, we've thought the same thing. For years this house has had waves running under it. One more pic taken the same week back in 2003, where you can see the sand pattern caused by the washover even then. (Havn't tried to upload a pic on a comment in over a year, hope I get it right, but if not, oh well.) Yet, it survives. #9666098Julie Burnett September 11, 2011
As I was writing this, and starting to upload the pic, Hubby said he heard that it was moved to a new location, just researched, and it has been moved, too late to delete the first comment. #9666161Kay E. Mahoney September 25, 2011
