I like both formats here too—although if forced to choose one, I'd pick the vertical because her hair's curve and tilted head make it a slightly more dynamic pose.

Normally, portraits fit better in vertical aspect (what printers call Portrait mode) because you can move in closer to your subject.

Here, your bamboo is interesting as a background so both formats work. It's a lovely portrait both ways. This is as good as any senior portrait!
